Genre: Romantic suspense

The CabinLeah Kettridge’s writing career is over before the first book lands on the shelf, when a famous author has claimed she’s stolen his work. If it wasn’t for a story brainstorming luncheon with her sister, he’d have never overheard her conversation about the novel she was writing. Who will she ever trust again if not her most favorite writer? And what about the one fabulous date they had before she knew what a traitor he was?
Keenan Brinner has it all. He’s a best-selling author who’s only headed toward more greatness. And he must be the most gorgeous guy Leah’s ever seen. But he’s also a liar and a cheat.
When they end up at the same cabin to write, emotions explode. But an unexpected snowstorm traps them deep in the mountains. Is he bent on destroying her in more ways than one? How will love find them amidst all their anger and distrust?

 My Review:
Trapped, with the person who has damaged you the most, that's what Leah is dealing with with Keenan. All she wanted was a week to work on her next book. Instead, she's stuck with someone who's a serious issue to her in more ways than one! How dare he say she  stole his work and now he's in the cabin with her? Oh no, no no.

I found this book to be exciting and loved the premise. I liked the faith that was dropped in here and there, but it's focus on truth and forgiveness.  So who really stole who's work and why? The answers were interesting ones and it made for a nice little read. It did wrap up a bit fast.

About the Author
Ering UngerErin Unger was raised in the hills of Virginia, exploring abandoned houses and reading the scariest books she could find. After marrying so young it would make a great romance novel, she has enjoyed an exciting life with her hubby. But her fast-paced life sometimes rivals the suspense in her books thanks to all her mostly grown children and a couple grandkids. Her next novel, Fateful Fall, releases August 9, 2019.

Glittery snow. The perfect cabin in the mountains. And sworn enemies trapped together. How could anything go wrong?
Welcome to the cabin where writers like to go to get away from the noise and bother of life to write. I hope you don’t mind the two guests already here. They’re stuck together after one stole the other’s novel. But the famous one has firsts rights to the work. Who’d dare believe he’d be the perpetrator of the crime? Or is it the newbie writer who longed to be known for more than her graphic designs who plagiarized?
Stay and enjoy a mug of instant coffee and some potted meat. And make sure to bring in your warmest blanket, since this eclectic home has lost power in the storm.
You’ll also find a complementary cordless phone with no connection for your accommodations.
Enjoy your stay! And take a moment to check out our amenities folder laden with an expert below.

Read an excerpt from The Cabin
Betrayal is such a benign looking word on paper. In real life it could kill a person. Like me. I was dying on the inside as I flipped from one page to the next of the bestselling novel in my hands. And all because of Keenan Brennan—the hottest bestselling author I knew and dated some time ago. Yet some part of me kept praying it wasn’t true as I pressed into the sofa cushion and continued to read.
It just couldn’t be.
But the book with the startlingly dark cover said it all.
“No, no, no.”
Hot tears stung my cheeks as I ripped the well-designed cover off the book and then launched it across the living room. It smashed against the refurbished brick wall and landed with its pages bent. Good. It deserved a worse fate than just bent pages.
How? When had he stolen my book idea?
I face-planted my palm against my forehead. “At the restaurant.”
Why didn’t I keep my big fat mouth shut and tell my sister Aeris the storyline in the privacy of my home? Tears stung my eyes. Who’d have guessed my lowdown almost boyfriend would stoop so low. He didn’t need my work.
I stared across the room, not focusing on the heap of a good—terrible—book. Well it was on the NYT bestselling list. Not bad for a nobody writer like myself. And since it was my story—not his—then I allowed myself a moment of self-satisfaction.
My gaze dropped to the torn book. I had to take another look. Couldn’t it be a coincidence? Maybe the rest of it was different. In a scramble, I grabbed it up and found the page I last read.
By chapter forty there was no doubt.

Danger on the Ranch By Dana Mentink (Roughtwater Ranch Cowboys)

Danger on the Ranch FB Cover

About the Book

Book: Danger on the Ranch
Author: Dana Mentink
Genre: Inspirational romantic suspense
Release date: June 1, 2019
Danger on the Ranch CoverAfter putting his serial killer brother in prison, former US marshal Mitch Whitehorse chooses a solitary country life—until his brother escapes. Now Mitch’s former sister-in-law, Jane Reyes, needs protection…for herself and the toddler she’s kept a secret. Mitch still isn’t sure of Jane’s innocence in his brother’s crimes, but to keep his nephew out of a killer’s grasp, trusting her is his only option.

My Review:

Sometimes I just need a good western. Former US Marshal, Mitch Whitehorse had to put his own brother in prison. His brother's crimes; that would be murder. He's on the side of good and justice and his brother has become a serial killer. Now, if that weren't enough stress, his brother is on the lam. He's escaped, he's after Mitch and now his Sister-in-Law and his nephew are begging for protection. Poor Mitch! He's got so much guilt and now two more people to protect? I felt for the guy. He's carrying so many burdens and struggling to do what's right, now he has these new lives to contend with caring for and keeping safe.

In true Western style, we have lots of suspense. It's a movie in print as the pages flew by revealing more and more about Mitch, little Ben, and his mom, Jane. Themes of forgiveness when you're so mad at God you can't see straight run through this book. It's not a light and fluffy read. This one is dramatic and gritty.

We’re kicking off a new cowboy series, but this one is going to take you for a wild ride! Set on a ranch that’s sandwiched between the sea and the hills required me to do some on site research of course! I spent quite a while in this gorgeous area of California, looking for cattle. (You can see the zany results in my video.) I found the cattle, and also the perfect setting for this first book. It’s a creepy one, I’ll warn you, as hero Mitch Whitehorse comes face to face with the serial killer brother he sent to prison….and his desperate ex sister in law. Saddle up and enjoy the story! God bless!

Copycat by C.S. Barnes

This is a Bloodhound Book Review

About the Book:
When the body of a young woman, Jenni Grantham, is found abandoned in the playing fields that sit at the centre of a small town, DI Melanie Watton and her team are called to investigate. If the discovery alone wasn’t disturbing enough, it soon becomes apparent that the murder, the method and the appearance of the victim, is something they have seen before.

With the help of Medical Examiner George Waller, DI Watton uncovers the case history of Michael Richards – a local murderer who put this small town on the map when he killed five women before turning himself in.

Further investigations reveal that the most recent victim, Jenni, was recently reported missing by her parents. And when Jenni’s personal effects are introduced into the investigation, shocking discoveries are made about the victim’s fascination with the original killings.

However, when the ME makes a surprise discovery, things appear even more complicated than the team originally believed, and DI Watton realizes that Jenni was perhaps not the only local with a fixation on these infamous killings.

With a copycat killer on the loose, the team knows it is only a matter of time before another body is discovered. But when a second murder does take place, the team find themselves questioning everything they thought they knew…

My Review:
Here is the story of a killer. Yes, there are many of them in the real world and in books, but this killer took out five women and then he turned himself in. Like many such people, he had his life ended when in prison. Now there's a problem. Another life, Jenni's,  has ended abruptly and the clue left with the victim would be the signature of Michel Richards, but he's dead. DI Melaine Watton can't shake some of her concerns. As she works the case, which has suspense, clues here and there, the concern that the real killer wasn't Richards, I got more and more involved in the story. This book has police procedures along with physiological insights. I was rooting for the truth to be reviled and the perpetrator to be brought to justice. I became fond of Melaine, she is well written. This should become a series, it's quite strong.

4 Stars and a thank you to Bloodhound Books!

My Review:
This book may be the best this author has written so far! Margot could easily be a "Rainman" her own way. Her abilities with numbers are astounding. Margot was in prior books, but this book takes her to a whole new level and you can count me in for being a #1 fan of her story with Drake. All the characters of this book are riveting and faith is gently woven in, while we deal with wars, life and breaking codes. Wow, just wow. You will be missing out if you don't read this book. The Number of Love has so much depth, I could read it again and I might be counting days till the next book in this series is released.

5 Stars, only because we can't leave more than that.

About the Author

Roseanna 2018Roseanna M. White is a bestselling, Christy Award nominated author who has long claimed that words are the air she breathes. When not writing fiction, she’s homeschooling her two kids, editing, designing book covers, and pretending her house will clean itself. Roseanna is the author of a slew of historical novels that span several continents and thousands of years. Spies and war and mayhem always seem to find their way into her books…to offset her real life, which is blessedly ordinary. You can learn more about her and her stories at www.RoseannaMWhite.com.

More from Roseanna

When I told my best friend and critique partner what book I was pitching next to my publisher, her response was something along the lines of, “That sounds awesome. Also, you’re crazy, and I do not envy you writing that one.”
I laughed…and knew exactly what she meant. Because I was setting out to write a heroine who was a mathematician—which I am definitely not. A heroine who was utterly indifferent to love and marriage—which makes for a difficult story when one writes romance. A character who had an unshakeable faith—which has to be shaken at least a bit in order to make for growth throughout the story. And more, a character who has “issues,” let’s call it, that those familiar with such things will recognize…and which those who aren’t will probably think are quirks.
I was setting out to write a story that would be challenging for me, every step of the way. And the result is a book I’m incredibly in love with and so happy to share with the world.
The Number of Love is all about Margot, who thinks and even prays in numbers. Born and raised in Belgium, she and her family fled to England in 1914 when the Germans invaded her homeland. Thanks to her remarkable abilities with numbers and patterns, she’s now employed at Room 40, the Admiralty’s secret codebreaking branch. But as I was contemplating what sort of man could ever win Margot’s heart, I knew he had to be very different… someone active where she’s still. Someone outgoing where she turns inward. Someone who sees in her what she never can, and who believes she can grasp the dreams that society tells her are unbefitting a woman. This is how Drake was born—a field agent employed by Room 40.
I can honestly say this is the only book I’ve ever written that required me to borrow my daughter’s algebra book while I was writing it, LOL. And though every single scene was a challenge, it was one I thoroughly enjoyed. I hope you’ll join me on the journey that Margot and Drake are on, which answer the question my husband cheekily asked more than once as I was writing it: what is the number of love?
