Blood Moon Redemption by Judy DuCharme

blood room redemption

About the Book

Book:  Blood Moon Redemption

Author: Judy DuCharme

Genre: Christian suspense

Release date: October, 2018

book BMRAn ancient relic, a puzzling prophecy, and a young woman tied together through the ages . . .

It was just a relic, and hers, just a name. Who knew what time it really was?

The blood moons were always surrounded by great persecution and great provision, great trial and great triumph

When the Jews were expelled from Spain and traveled with Columbus, only a tassel from a prayer shawl remained with them to signify their faith. That tassel, handed down, stolen, and hidden, became a marker of God’s protection and now is the focus of a terrorist scheme and a young woman’s destiny.

Blood Moon Redemption is an end-times thriller that will keep you riveted until the very last moonrise.

My Review:

Blood-moon, here's a name that tends to alarm people. It's another end times story, but this one could be a film without much effort. Inside the pages is a griping story of a woman named Tassie. She's a lawyer and she also has a relic. This happens to be a tassel from a prayer shawl, from the 1400's, from a Jewish Priest. Ahhh, it's getting interesting here folks! This book is full of suspense, action, faith, drama, history and you should just read it. I know a good bit about the Jewish faith, and I like what the author did, showing it and bring this forward into more current times, while tying it to history and the Bible and showing faith and scripture through a viewpoint that isn't seen very often.

More from Judy

My brother, a lawyer, is a voracious reader and likes to write reviews. When he wrote of Blood Moon Redemption, he stated: ‘Most novels have pacing that gives you natural places to stop for the night but this one runs right through the stop signs.’  Current, Historical, and Prophetic, Blood Moon Redemption is a riveting novel following the suspenseful and gripping journeys the characters must travel to find their true destinies. My hope is that you are intrigued enough by all the prophecies, history, and stories here-in, that you will further explore the amazing truths that Tassie, her friends and family discovered.

 My Review:

For starters, that title is so cool! I love the pun. I also like this authors other stories, so I was interested to see how I'd like this one. Frankly, I think I ate it up. It's the first book in this series, it can make you crave more of this style of cozy. Yes, it's sweet, and not just from ice cream. There's a cast of fun characters, the main one being Trinidad. She's been through a divorce, so she's starting over with the Shimmy and Shake shop. I liked just about everything about this story. Between the cute names, healing, romance, recovery, and a bit of faith based foundation, and Noodles the dog, there's also a murder. Who killed The Popcorn King?

Freakshakes. The name says it all, right? Allow me to explain. A freakshake is a milkshake festooned with so many extras (sprinkles, cookies, candy, donuts, cake, slabs of pie) that it is hardly liftable. It is the stuff my sugar fantasy dreams are made of! Now picture a freakshake shop called the Shimmy and Shake in the quaint and quirky town of Upper Sprocket in Eastern Oregon. Known as the “Swiss Alps” of Oregon, this fictional place is the new home to a woman named Trinidad Jones, a lady starting out on the second phase of her life after her husband’s betrayal. Sprinkle in a dose of Papa Luis, her darling Cuban grandfather (inspired by my own Cuban grandfather) who drives a classic Buick, and a devoted service dog flunk out named Noodles. You know what’s missing? A murder, of course! That happens shortly after Trinidad opens her new shop, and from there on out it’s a sticky, spine tingling, sweet and satisfying and slightly funny adventure in mystery land. I had an absolute blast writing the first installment in this series, and I’m knee deep in the second as I write this. Thank you for coming along on the adventure and I hope it’s as satisfying as a monster milkshake!

 MY REIVEW:

Coble is an author I really like and this book is a good example of why. This book works as a stand-alone, but is part of a series. It has a good bit of action, suspense and for this story, it's not heavy on faith. This means it works for me to share with those who are totally lost about what Christian fiction can be. Grayson and Ellie were good characters, and I enjoyed the story. I do want to read the whole series.

Island Charm by Audrey Wick

About the Book

Book:  Island Charm

Author: Audrey Wick

Genre: Christian Contemporary Beach Read

Release date: May 14, 2021

An imposter in paradise.

When Anna Worthington’s twin sister gets jilted by her fiancé, Anna steps in with a plan for a girls’ Key West getaway instead of a honeymoon trip. Yet when her twin has her own crisis of commitment and doesn’t board the plane, Anna finds herself on a romantic getaway that she’s forced to navigate alone.

A vacation romance with an expiration date.

Gunnar Lockhart, whose specialty is island tourism, is the perfect match for helping Anna complete her vacation bucket list, but time together forges a connection more personal than either anticipate. As they make island memories, Anna has to untangle her mixed emotions. Are her feelings toward Gunnar real? Or like her sister’s wedding day, has this connection been doomed from the start?

 My Review:

Sometimes we just need a soft, sweet romance. Frequently a bit stereotypical with a fast moving love story, a communication issue, and then add in some extras and you have this light breezy read. The ocean setting, Anna and Gunnar, it all works to sweep you off into a clean, made for TV movie kind of feeling. This book is not deeply faith based, it's more of a  journey through some of life and love. It could be a good book to ease someone who's never read Christian fiction into the genre without risk of scaring them away. I have to say I really liked the shells and jewelry making parts and if this book did wind up a film, I'd not be surprised.

“The Importance of Setting in Fiction Writing”

My favorite element in writing a novel is setting. Making places come alive through storytelling brings special joy, and I’m fortunate to be able to do that in the pages of Island Charm.

Island Charm is my first beach-read, a standalone contemporary novel set in Key West. Key West is a small island in the Florida Keys, an archipelago that stretches west from the southern peninsula of Florida. The Keys dangle into the Gulf of Mexico like a string of island pearls. Key West is the last on the strand.

I first experienced Key West in the summer, but years later, I traveled back in winter. Whether its July or January, Key West is beautiful anytime of year. What I like best about the island is its walkability. It’s roughly four miles long and one mile across, making it easy to explore on foot. The boardwalk, docks, piers, and public beaches means there is plenty to experience. Fantastic views stretch in all directions.

Additionally, the island has an impressive literary history. Authors including Ernest Hemingway, Tennessee Williams, Elizabeth Bishop, Shel Silverstein, Philip Burton, Judy Blume, and Meg Cabot have all called the island their home at one time or another. It’s easy to see why my heroine, Anna, is so taken with the scenery, just like these writers. I hope readers will be as well!

Follow Anna as she explores Key West in Island Charm. Thanks for traveling with me through the pages, and I hope readers enjoy their time on the island.

Donkey Devos: Listen When God Speaks by Susan K. Stewart

Donkey Devos Epic Book Launch

About the Book

Book:  Donkey Devos: Listen When God Speaks

Author: Susan K. Stewart

Genre: Devotional

Release date: July 15, 2021

Did you know the Bible mentions only two talking animals? Each of these creatures had a different message. The first to speak out was the serpent. This character certainly wasn’t a model. If God was using this snake for a test drive, I can see why he kept the mouths of the other animals closed. This snake in the grass spoke words meant for evil. Later God allowed another animal to speak—the lowly donkey. The beast of burden. This time the animal had words of wisdom.

Susan K. Stewart expected dogs, cats, and the occasional goldfish would be all the pets she’d need—until the day Susan met donkeys at a rescue center. A few years after that fateful visit, three donkeys became part of the Stewart family. Susan soon learned these humble creatures are still messengers of wisdom.

Donkey Devos is a collection of forty pearls Susan has learned from spending time learning about her equine friends and chatting with them. She uses her experiences, donkey facts, and Biblical donkey details to share the truths God has taught. The whole family will delight in the donkey tales with a message from God.

BOOK EXCERPT

Donkey Devos Excerpt Four

As Bored as a Donkey

It happened again. We returned home to find Jeb and Neesy at the fence corner by the entrance gate, happily chewing a cardboard box. I failed to put up the warning sign, and the delivery man dropped the package within range of the curious donkeys.

These two seem to like the box best. Other items wrapped in plastic were set aside, or rather kicked aside, so they could get to anything encased in cardboard. By the time we returned home that day, the delivery box was nearly devoured, and they were working on the boxes other items arrived in.

Why are donkeys interested in a cardboard box set by the gatepost? We often question why our donkeys do the things they do.

When we had our three jennies, I noticed they were chewing through the trunk of a downed tree. Concerned about possible side effects, I asked our vet. He said donkeys get bored. Like a six-year-old child, when bored and left on their own, they find something to do. On the particular day mentioned above, their chosen activity was to devour a cardboard box.
