My Review:

This author has given us another top-notch realistic story. Blessings On The Run has plenty of real-life issues that many women have been through. While they aren't considered the issues of some generations, the truth is they have always been there. The story is told first-person, with flashbacks. Blessing, like many women I know, has been used and degraded by men her entire life. My heart hurt for her, as it does for the real people I know who have or are going through such trials. Forgiveness and redemption are the themes of this book. Control and manipulation were clearly shown and not glossed over into something that is okay.  I found it to be a relevant read.

For anyone who hasn't been around the issues in this book, it's good to keep in mind that they are far more prevalent in today's world than tend to be discussed in most Christian circles.

About the Author:
alana terryAlana is a pastor’s wife, homeschooling mom, self-diagnosed chicken lady, and Christian suspense author. Her novels have won awards from Women of Faith, Book Club Network, Grace Awards, Readers’ Favorite, and more. Alana’s passion for social justice, human rights, and religious freedom shines through her writing, and her books are known for raising tough questions without preaching. She and her family live in rural Alaska where the northern lights in the winter and midnight sun in the summer make hauling water, surviving the annual mosquito apocalypse, and cleaning goat stalls in negative forty degrees worth every second.

More from Alana

Are you afraid of anything? Maybe you have a phobia, like a fear of spiders, heights, or (if you’re weird like me) fish. (That’s a story for another day!)
When I was pregnant with our first son, I had some weird nightmares which fueled my fears. One night I woke up my husband in a panic to tell him to pray for our baby because we were being chased by a demonic cheese grater (yes, you read that right – a demonic kitchen appliance!). Regularly in my nightmares, I dream that someone or something is after my kids (and they’re usually not possessed cooking utensils, by the way).
One way I work through my fears as a mom is to turn them into stories. And even though I haven’t found a way to work a demonic cheese grater into my novels, you can read about a mother’s worst nightmare in this novel, Blessing on the Run.
Blessing has worked hard to turn her life around after a rough life on the streets, but in this exciting suspense novel, her past it about to catch up to her.
Join Blessing and her parents (if you’re a fan of the Kennedy series you already know who they are!) for an adrenaline-packed thrill ride you won’t soon forget.

My Review:

Set in the Blue Ridge mountains, this book piqued my interest in a fantastic setting, murder, mystery, faith, and romance. It's clean and has plenty of times that our main characters had to rely on God's help to deal with the situations they were facing. I liked Ava and Cory. I enjoyed the mystery and the small-town setting which is one I can relate to. It was a tiny bit slower in a few places, but not enough to lose my attention.  There's more than one fateful fall happening in this cozy book and this author is now one I am following.

Author: Amanda G. Stevens
Genre:  Christian Suspense/ Fantasy
Release Date: February, 2020
Sky to SkyZac Wilson can’t die.
Daredevil Zac Wilson isn’t the first celebrity to keep a secret from the world, but his might be the most marvelous in history: Zac doesn’t age and injuries can’t kill him. What’s more, he’s part of a close-knit group of others just like him.
Holed up in Harbor Vale, Michigan, Zac meets two more of his kind who claim others in their circle have died. Are their lifetimes finally ending naturally, or is someone targeting them—a predator who knows what they are?
The answers Zac unearths present impossible dilemmas: whom to protect, how to seek justice, how to bring peace to turmoil. His next action could fracture forever the family he longs to unite. My Review:

I'm really glad I got to read this book. I read the first book in this series. This book doesn't lag or drop off. It's a good second book, but you need to read the first book so you aren't lost. That aside, this is fantastic speculative fiction. I was completely absorbed in this book. This book continues with more people who can't die, due to something that happened to them. We met a group of them in book one, so in this book the focus is Zac. Connections to God, faith struggles, and more than I can put into this review. This series is fascinating, moving, and emotional. I can't wait to read more of it!

About the Author

AmandaStevensAs a child, Amanda G. Stevens disparaged Mary Poppins and Stuart Little because they could never happen. Now she writes speculative fiction. She is the author of the Haven Seekers series, and her debut Seek and Hide was a 2015 INSPY Award finalist. She lives in Michigan and loves trade paperbacks, folk music, the Golden Era of Hollywood, and white cheddar popcorn.

More from Amanda

For years, the theme of immortality has intrigued me. I love the Elves of Middle-Earth, the “happiest and saddest” of the peoples Tolkien created as they watch the ages pass. I love the exploration of aged sorrow in Tuck Everlasting. I’ve stuck with TV shows which shall remain nameless (but, ahem, a few feature vampires) because I’m always wondering how did this writer tackle immortality? Anything new? Are the characters convincingly old and young at the same time?
The thing is, while some of these fiction works satisfy me more than others, I’m always left with a tug of incompletion. Eventually I figured out this tug was a story in my own head and heart wanting to come out, a contemporary story that included the gospel. What might God’s plan be for those whose earthly days seem unnumbered? How would their age affect their interactions with humanity and with faith? These questions were the springboard for the No Less Days series, and of course the answers vary with the individual. Ultimately this is why I write: to explore people, their inner selves, their relationships. My goal is always to create characters that breathe from the page.
In From Sky to Sky, we get a look into the head and heart of Zac Wilson, who has been on the run from God longer than any of us could imagine: a full century playing the prodigal. I always try to be honest about how much life can hurt, “even” for the Christian; if we had triple the number of years to accumulate hurt in this broken world, we’d have a lot of it. That’s true of all my ageless characters, including Zac. To scratch the surface, this man fought in two world wars and has outlived all his children.
But the sum of Zac is much more than his collected wounds. He is a deep-feeling, fun-loving, generous guy. He enjoys music and physical activity. He has an insatiable sweet tooth and a need for open spaces. He’s not afraid to laugh at his own expense, and he has a boundless love for people and the stories of their lives.
My hope is that readers will grow to love this young old guy as they journey with him through some dark times toward redemption and light.

Jack Janson and the Storm Caller

About the Book:

Jack Janson is nearly fourteen, an only child living with his parents who hate him almost as much as they hate each other. The only good things about his life are the girl next door, Sarah-Jane Farmer, whom he adores, and his Granny Jean in Cornwall who he spends the summer holidays with.
His gran is cool but she is hiding a HUGE secret. As her health fails, she decides to share the secret with Jack.
Gran leads Jack to a cave.
“Boom Tom tum” a loud voice echoes and a rock opens up to reveal a young giant called Winfred Storm Caller. Gran has been looking after the friendly giant since pirates killed his mother, but she needs Jack to care for Winfred.
Sarah-Jane arrives to help and they uncover The Book Of Lore hidden in the cave.
What magic does it possess?
Have they found a way to get Winfred home to his own lands?
Are Sarah-Jane and Jack brave enough to use the book to save Granny Jean’s life?

My Review:

I found this to be a very fun read. I love the giant, his speech is awesome. It really helped make the story. Jack is so well rounded. I like his personality, and how he shines around his Grandmother. There are so many likable characters and it's all wrapped up in a very good YA story. It does have a few places that I would say are for a slightly older set of readers. That part is hinted at. That aside the rest of the read is clean. I hope to read more of this series as it has great potential and could easily be a TV series.

My Review:

I'm becoming a fan. This book was just what I'd hoped. This is a standalone novel, and I'll warn you, it's not easy to put it down if you can! So, does Rebecca have a copy cat killer or the same one from prior murders on her hands? This story is full of twists, and suspense with plenty of action and strong characters. It's well written and I can't wait to read more from this author. This is a really good debut book!

About The Author:

Keri Beevis wrote her first novel at age twenty, but it was a further twenty years before she was published after winning a contract in the Rethink Press New Novels Competition 2012.

Born in the village of Old Catton, less than a mile from where Anna Sewell was living when she wrote Black Beauty, Keri had a passion for reading and writing from a young age, though her tastes veered more to the macabre.

Today she still lives in Norwich, along with her two naughty kitties, Ellie and Lola, and a plentiful supply of red wine (her writing fuel), where she writes a comedic lifestyle column for a local magazine. She loves Hitchcock movies, exploring creepy places, and gets extremely competitive in local pub quizzes. She is also a self-confessed klutz.

Keri joined the Bloodhound team in 2019 and her first release with them, the psychological thriller, Dying To Tell, which is set in her beautiful home county of Norfolk, has been her biggest success to date, with over 1200 four and five star ratings on Goodreads.

Her new novel, Deep Dark Secrets (which was previously published as The Darkness Beneath) was released in January 2020.
