 My Review:

I am thrilled to have read this book and its well done, strong message! This book will offend those who don't want to see how some of the darker spiritual forces creep in and how they can alter the lives of those who aren't aware and fighting it. Jerold was just teaching at a seminary. Like some other lukewarm Christians, he was just going through the motions. Jerold is not particularly processing them at all. When a chain reaction of things starts, he finds himself in a situation similar to the movie The Net, but with all the spiritual aspects included. Jerold has opened spiritual doors and lack of an active relationship with God may not have been his best move. What will he do now? There's murder, and mystery and all kinds of spiritual warfare. Friends and foes, and it's written to make people think. I really like that about this story. Where can doubting God lead? Who do you trust?

I think the a author did a really great job of showing the darker side of things that I've been exposed to some of in the past. Not for the same reasons, but it helped me understand where this story was going. 

I can't give it less than 5 stars and a heads-up for those who haven't seen some of the spiritual struggles that are not so hidden in the dark. 

About the Author

John Faubion was a foreign missionary in Vietnam, Guam and to the Chinese for nearly thirty years. Then a professional software engineer for more than twenty years after that.

He’s the father of five children, and lives in central Indiana with his wife.

 My Review:

This might be the strongest book in the series, or maybe I'm just fond of it! It's not just the Montana history this time. Emmalee has been through some horrible things, and now she has to see how to work her way through them, or overcome this. Having suffered so much that's now topped off by her being a widow. What is to become of her now? Thankfully, she has some funds, but we all know that doesn't necessarily make things smooth. This is a beautifully woven tale of redemption and self worth. Richard was a good fit, and I found this clean installment of this book to be special. I'm ready for more of this series!

Flower of the Rockies is one of my favorite stories. I didn’t realize when I started writing about the Montana state flower that I’d be digging into a deeper part of myself. A part I didn’t want to remember.

Stumbling on the women’s club that worked so hard to create symbolism for the state of Montana sparked a story idea. Then that idea needed a character help me tell the story. Then she told me she didn’t know how to read. Okay, I can run with that… But I’m a really good reader. So how do I connect to this widow who needs to learn to read to stop her husband’s partner from cooking her books and stealing everything she has left?

It hit me. She and I had a lot in common. As a kid, I was awkward. I didn’t connect well because I couldn’t read people. Ironically, I read books to learn about people. But it took getting out and being with people to begin really connecting and communicating.

Emmalee doesn’t want to be around people because she’s been rejected for her past and ridiculed publicly. Who wants to be friends with a soiled dove? But, she’s lonely. I suddenly connected on an even deeper level with her. I understood her need for love and acceptance. Her desire to become someone respectable.

On a bigger scale, that’s what the women of Montana were trying to prove, too. That their state fit in with the other states, had something special, something symbolic that showed she was accepted and respected. She had a flag, a state flower, and people who mattered.

Come join me in the Flower of the Rockies. I think you’ll like Emmalee and her journey toward acceptance. There are a lot of layers to the story’s symbolism. I wrote it and have been amazed at how God keeps revealing those layers to me in one short book. Let me know what is revealed to you.

 My Review:

Such drama, in the desert, with sand and romance! The kids in this story are so realistic, and then there's Tony and Willow. They are all amazing, but especially the children. I liked the suspense, the mystery and this book in this series is part thriller, part romantic suspense. I enjoyed it. I like how things turned out and it's a good addition to the series, where faith isn't left out in this story either.

Wooty woo! We’re back in Death Valley again! So excited about this fourth book in the series because Papa Bear and I have actually returned to this amazing place. (Our previous return trip was stalled for a while due to the virus that shall not be named!) People have asked me, “Why do you love Death Valley so much?” I can only respond that you just have to go there to understand. Is it the vastness of the place? The enormous topographical variety? Maybe it’s the profound quietness that permeates the national park and environs. Then again, it might be the panorama of nighttime stars. (Death Valley National Park is a certified International Dark Sky Park due to its limited light pollution.) Could it be the tenacity of people who live there and survive the one hundred twenty plus degree temperatures in the summer? And how about those animals? The Death Valley pupfish is a teeny little endangered fish that lives in precisely one spot on the globe (Death Valley) and only two places within that range, Salt Creek and Cottonball Marsh. Imagine that! So why set a six book series in Death Valley? Because there’s no more hostile and incredible place I can think of. I hope you will enjoy taking a fictional trip with me there too. My Review: 

I love a good mystery and this one is an amazing cozy. I adored Nancy Drew growing up, so main characters who follow in her footsteps is perfect for me. I already enjoyed the prior books in this series. For this book, I have to say, it topped the others in the series. It has humor and a few twists, problems to solve, mysteries to unravel and it was delightful with fun characters and at the end I just wanted a coffee or tea, and another book in this series! What a lovely clean cozy read!

To aid in her “investigation,” Reen enlists the help of her nine-year-old cousin, Joanie Finelson. And the chaos begins.

Writing Time After Tyme was great fun for me. This is the third book in the Watchseries of cozy mysteries, and I wanted to add another dimension to the stories. Since I intended to dedicate the book to my best friend from childhood, my cousin Joan, I thought the misadventures of two young girls would be the perfect addition. Although Reen and Joanie are secondary characters in the book, they steal the show from the adults with their misguided attempts to find a killer.

Set on the campus of fictional Bellevue University, the story revolves around the recent death of the university librarian, Mr. Tyme. When strange, coded messages are found in the university chapel prayer box, main characters Kathryn Frasier and Cece Goldman are asked to decipher them. While Kathryn and Cece work to solve the mystery behind the codes, Reen and Joanie are turning things upside down in the search for a killer.

There were several things I particularly enjoyed about writing this book. I loved creating the coded messages, each of which relates to a Biblical proverb. I also liked exploring the secrets many of the adults in the book harbored to avoid being associated with Mr. Tyme’s death.

But more than anything else, I enjoyed the all-out approach to solving the mystery by the two young girls. At times, their unfiltered approach to their quest made me laugh out loud and reminded me of the wonder of that special time of life.
