 My Review:

For three years Sadie Malone has been in witness protection. That's a long time for someone to settle into a new identity, and a new, supposedly safe life. She's had a lot of grieving, because her husband and her little daughter were killed, which is why she was moved to witness protection. I really felt for her already at this point! But her whole world is about to be rocked again, when Bowen Boudine enters the scene. He not only flares emotions long forgotten, but he has information that is going to totally, completely, oh so majorly change her life!

As a romantic suspense, this book is clean. It's also leans heavily on the suspense, which it does well. The suspense rises even more when Sadie's handler is murdered. What does it take to keep her safe and free her from the secrets that until recently only God knew about in full? What plans does God have for her or for Boudine? With a strong faith thread worked into the plot, this book was a nice read for a suspenseful weekend.

More from Valerie

Story ideas invade my mind at the oddest moments. One day as I sorted laundry, I thought how interesting it would be to begin a novel with: “I’d been in the Witness Protection Program for three years when my identity was compromised.”

The idea bubbled and churned in my mind for a while. When I sat down to outline possible scenarios, the ideas hit me like an avalanche. Why was she in WITSEC? Who outed her? I scribbled as fast as I could—yes, I’m behind the times and use paper and pencil to plot my novels.

And so IRO was born. The International Retrieval Organization is my topnotch investigative service, with unlimited resources and experienced operatives.

Weep in the Night is the first novel in my Stolen Lives Trilogy. IRO agents are the heroes or heroines in the series. Which agent will save the day?
