Looking for Lulu by Carl Granger

*Note to most of my regular viewers, this is not a Christian book and it contains graphic content as well as trigger warnings.* This is a Overview Media Tour. www.overviewmedia.co.uk

You could be sitting next to him in a pub.

You’d never notice him. But he would see you.

None of his victims had ever noticed him, sitting there, glancing occasionally at them. Even if they had, they would have seen no cause for alarm.

Bland. Uninteresting. A civil servant going home to his equally bland wife and children at the end of another working day.

Anonymous. Invisible. Faceless.

That’s what they had all thought. But they were all wrong.

Now only the ever-growing spinney of trees bears testimony that they had once existed.

Is hard-bitten ex-Military Police captain, Detective Inspector Oscar Smith up to the task of tracking him down?

And as you turn the pages to meet the killer, will you ever find sleep again?

My Review:

Woah. This is a core hardened serial killer. He's ordinary, and yet he's more lethal than a pit-viper. At least with viper people can kind of see that coming. He'd be in perfect company with Hannibal Lecter, minus the refinement of that character. DI Oscar Smith was a mixed hero for me who grew on me as I read. He was awful, and yet he was so human that he was understandable. He was dense, but smart. He pitted off well against a killer that was slipping through all the cracks. Had it not been for Lulu, where would things be now?

Graphic content- um yeah. You may well have to skip over some parts. While the author did a great job, you might not want that in your head. Trigger warnings, yes. Even so, it's a very realistic and raw portrayal  I could see it being a TV series, with a bit of clean up for some of the super gross - need to skip or lighten that up kind of parts.

It is British, which I do love. You will find a lovely dose of British slang as well as pubs and so forth. What it will drive home is that people need to be more aware of their surroundings, who is there? Who blends in? Why are you there? What changes in your life should you make, if any, because there but for the grace of God; you could have been a target for such a killer as this one. A very chilling and creepily engaging book debut.
