The Midwife's Tale by Deila Parr

Widow Martha Cade is a midwife. She is quite settled in her town, job and life. Being a midwife is her calling. She loves what she does. Martha is kind, and caring, but also sometimes proud and stubborn. Martha learns from her mistakes, and her struggles are easy to understand and I really felt connected to her.

Will was lots of fun too, and Martha's romance, oh you just have to read it! There is a new Doctor in town, will he run Martha out of business or will be be the man she has been waiting for?

Love, and so very many other good topics are covered in this very well written book! I would suggest that you read this book and watch Martha's faith and life grow. It's a really lovely journey, even with so very few babies born during the book.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Martha Cade comes from a long line of midwives who have served the families of Trinity, Pennsylvania, for generations. A widow with two grown children, she's hopeful that her daughter will follow in her footsteps, but when Victoria runs off, Martha's world is shattered.

Worse, a new doctor has arrived in town, threatening her job, and she can't remember a time when her faith has been tested more. Still determined to do the work she knows God intended for her, Martha is unprepared for all that waits ahead. Whether it's trying to stop a town scandal, mending broken relationships, or feeling the first whispers of an unexpected romance, she faces every trial and every opportunity with hope and faith.
