Once Upon A Winter's Heart by Melody Carlson

What a sweet fast ready! Melody Carlson has done it again. :)

Emma is a bit burnt out with romance and her job. When her Poppi (Grandfather) passes, she packed up her apartment, quit her job and moved to move in with her Grandmother. Upon arriving, she finds more going on than just her Poppi passing. Nona (Grandmother) is coping pretty well, but her Mother is there. She isn't going home and she says her Father is a jerk and there their marriage is probably over. Add to that her sister's divorce and how it is effecting her nephew and Emma figures that when Poppi died, all romance that was good in the world went with him. To cope with it and keep Nona from hurting more than she is, Emma starts working in Poppi's bookstore. Quite suddenly Nona realizes it is February the First and Poppi always put up all the Valentine's decor on the first day of  February.

So here is Emma, trying to cope and landing in a pile of pink and white, hearts, streamers and everything she would rather burn than deal with, when who should crop up in her time of hate and yet time of need than Lane. Lane is a family friend, who her sister seems to think is going to be the next father for young Tristan.
So add to Emma's problems that while love and romance hate and evade her, now she can't figure out how she feels about this man who was so close to her dear Poppi.

As things speed up, Emma has a lot to consider. Her parent's marriage and what could be going wrong, and why. Her sisters divorce, is the man she married really that bad? Everyone liked him and is he really out of the picture? Lane, and how he confuses her. Where is God in all this, and what would Poppi say?

This was a really sweet, romantic, fast read. I enjoyed it very much!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Emma Burcelli has suffered over a decade of dating disasters. But she concludes that love is officially dead when her grandfather Poppi suddenly passes, leaving her grandmother Nona devastated. To help out, Emma works in the family bookstore, which Nona insists must be decked out in sweetheart décor as Poppi would have done for Valentine's Day. Although she feels like a V-Day Scrooge, Emma quickly learns to enjoy the task with the help of a handsome family friend, Lane Forester, who shows her that hanging hearts is much more fun when done to the tune of Dean Martin. As Emma and Lane share time and memories of Poppi, she reconsiders the notion that romance is alive.
